Learning from the World

Inspired by the exceptional accomplishments of educators and public school systems around the globe, NPESF has made international learning a centerpiece of our programming.  By stressing the significance of the results of international benchmarking such as the PISA assessments and bringing international experts into the conversation, we hope to accelerate the process of educational reform in the U.S. and boost support for  continued efforts to create a world-class system here in the U.S.

As part of our international learning agenda, NPESF organizes delegations of federal and state policymakers and leaders education associations and EFSG-member foundations to visit some of the highest-performing education systems in the world.  In the past few years, we have led site visits to Singapore, Shanghai, Finland, and Ontario, Canada. Trip participants from all sectors gain deeper knowledge from visiting these systems firsthand, guided by experts and interacting with foreign policymakers, educators, and students.
